Phoebe is a young girl with big aspirations. She wants to be a firefighter! When she gets a new toy fire engine, it has everything but a hose. How’s a firefighter supposed to save the day without a rolled-up fire hose? Why, use a roll of toilet paper, of course! With her fire engine ready, Phoebe can now respond to emergencies. Unfortunately, whether it’s burnt toast, spilled tea, or the smell of gas, her mom says, “Phoebe, it’s not a real emergency.” On top of that, Mom’s not happy about toilet paper stretched throughout the house…until a real emergency arises!
When Phoebe answers Mom’s call for help, she finds Mom is stuck on the toilet. “This is a real emergency!” says her mom. Luckily, Phoebe knows just what to do. She nudges a roll of toilet paper through the door, and Firefighter Phoebe saves the day!

About Author Timothy Hoppey
For 27 years, Tim Hoppey worked as a New York City firefighter stationed in Spanish Harlem. Firefighting has been the inspiration behind many of Tim’s award-winning children’s books, including Tito, the Firefighter, The Good Fire Helmet, and The Red Car. Firefighter Phoebe is Tim’s humorous, newly released addition to that collection.
In addition to fighting fires, Tim ran summer rafting trips on the Delaware River for inner-city boys. More than just fresh air and fun, Tim tried to show at-risk children there’s more to this world than the neighborhood in which they lived.
Tim is married to his high school sweetheart, Ellen, with whom they raised three children. You can visit him at timhoppey.com.
